From Newly Qualified To Your Own AR Firm

Passing CeMAP is one thing. Finding a firm that will actually get you to Competent Adviser Status and then hand you the keys rather than keep you on a leash is another. That is the gap we built My Mortgage Co to close.
We take on newly qualified advisers who want proper support reaching CAS, and less experienced brokers who started somewhere that never gave them the structured backing to progress. We are less interested in how long you have been qualified than in whether you are committed to doing the job properly.
We are also open about what this is: a stepping stone. You are not meant to stay here forever.
The MMC Adviser Pathway
-
Day one
You join as a Registered Individual under My Mortgage Co, advising under our name and our permissions.
-
Your first weeks
Onboarding and shadowing, so you see real cases before you write them. Your first case is handheld end to end, not talked through beforehand and reviewed after, but worked alongside you from enquiry to completion.
-
Building your caseload
Supervised file-writing with regular file checks, so problems surface early rather than at audit. Your commission split improves as you go, starting from that first case.
-
Running alongside all of this
We prepare your future AR business in the background, so reaching CAS and starting to trade are not two separate mountains.
-
CAS assessment and sign-off
Six-monthly supervision and audits keep you on track rather than leaving you to guess how close you are.
-
The handover
You move to Flexi Network Ltd as an Appointed Representative and the business becomes yours.
Training That Covers Everything
Most newly qualified brokers get a single induction course and then work the rest out alone. Here, training runs alongside your real casework from day one, with webinars and check-ins that keep pace with regulatory change and shifting lending criteria, rather than one session you never hear about again.
That breadth matters commercially, not just educationally. An adviser trained only in residential and buy-to-let can only earn from residential and buy-to-let, and watches the more lucrative cases go elsewhere.
Reaching CAS does not switch it off. Advisers who want to specialise – protection, commercial, bridging – can build genuine depth rather than staying generalists by default.
It also covers considerably more ground than the two product types most academies stop at:
Mortgages across the full spectrum, from residential and buy to let through to complex cases
Specialist finance, including bridging and commercial
Protection
General insurance

Getting You Flexi-Ready, Before You Get There
Reaching CAS isn’t the finish line, it’s the day you start running a business and most advisers arrive at that day holding nothing but a qualification.
While you work towards CAS with us, we get the other side ready; your brand, your identity, and the website your clients will find you through, so when your acceptance comes through, your first three months go on writing cases rather than building a company from a blank page.
Owns: the acceptance mechanic and what AR status means.
Reach CAS with us and you are accepted into Flexi Network Ltd automatically. No second application, no interview, no waiting to hear whether you made the cut.
That works because Flexi is our sister company. The two firms aren’t strangers passing candidates between them.
As an AR you hold your own firm within Flexi’s permissions and support structure,
with whole-of-market access and full compliance backing behind you. The clients are yours, the
caseload is yours, and the ceiling is wherever you decide to put it.
What It Costs
£250
Application fee, one-off, standard for everyone.
£50
Monthly fee.
Commission split.
Your share starts at 50% on your first case and improves at every tier as you complete more:

Elsewhere you would sit on a flat rate until somebody decided you had earned better, with an improved split dangled somewhere in your future. We would rather move you up the moment you have earned it, which is why the first improvement arrives after a single case, not a single year
The My Mortgage Co Way, for advisers
One point of contact throughout training
Not a different supervisor every month.
Plain English, even in compliance
If a rule matters to your casework, we will explain why, not just what.
Whole of market from day one
Rather than a narrow panel until you have proved yourself.
Regulated and structured
My Mortgage Co is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, firm reference number 751361, with over 25 years in mortgage and protection advice.
FAQs Advisers Actually Ask Us
What is Competent Adviser Status (CAS)?
CAS is the point at which an adviser is considered fully competent to give regulated mortgage and protection advice without direct supervision. Reaching it takes a combination of structured training, supervised casework and file checks, assessed and signed off by your supervising firm.
What's the difference between an AR and a directly authorised adviser?
An Appointed Representative operates under a network’s FCA permissions and support structure. A directly authorised firm holds its own permissions directly. My Mortgage Co is directly authorised, and we place the advisers we train as ARs of Flexi Network Ltd once they reach CAS.
Do I trade under my own name?
Not while you are with us. You operate as a Registered Individual, advising as My Mortgage Co under our permissions. Once you move to Flexi as an AR, the firm is yours.
Can I write Equity Release business?
Not before CAS. Every other type of business is open to you from the start, and Equity Release becomes available once you have achieved Competent Adviser Status.
I qualified a while ago but never got started properly. Is that a problem?
No. Advisers who passed CeMAP and then stalled, for lack of a placement, lack of supervision, or a firm that took them on and left them to it, are exactly who this is built for.
